Environmental Scientist - Atlanta

Summary:

The environmental Scientist role is to perform environmental assessments, investigations, and monitoring activities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Researching, compiling, and analyzing evidence that identifies potentially responsible parties (PRPs) at hazardous waste sites.
• Performing Phase I/II Environmental Site Assessments.
• Soil classification and preparing boring logs.
• Collecting groundwater and soil samples.
• Work independently and in a team environment while managing quick turnaround times as expected by the clients.
• Communicate with your peers and managers on a daily basis and apply excellent writing and organizational expertise.
Required Competencies, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sharepoint, and Outlook)
• Attention to detail and documentation
• Eager to learn and interested in the subject matter
• Experience with technical writing and drafting reports
• Professional demeanor and excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to changing project requirements
• Familiarity with environmental law (particularly Superfund) and real estate law a plus
• Some travel will be required within southeastern United States (Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee).
• HAZWOPER training or ability to obtain
• US Citizen or Permanent US Resident

Education and Experience:
• Bachelor Degree in a related area of study (e.g. chemistry, environmental science/engineering)
• 1-3 years of experience in environmental consulting
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Physically capable of conducting field work in remote locations
• Responsibilities, skills, and working conditions may change as needs evolve
